Field Trip – Edgewood Park, New Haven – Bill Batsford,

Join Bill Batsford at this urban park with diverse habitat including woodlands, fields, streams, and ponds. We have excellent chances for Wood Duck, a resident pair of Red-tailed Hawks, Belted Kingfisher, and others. Bald Eagle and Pileated Woodpecker are possible. In 2022 we were treated to a spectacular display of migrating Broad-winged Hawks kettling over the park, so there are often surprises. The walk is about 2 miles on flat trails. We cross one field which can be wet and muddy—wear appropriate foot gear. Meet at the Edgewood Park parking lot off West Rock Avenue near the tennis courts, just south of Whalley Avenue, New Haven.
