Field Trip – East Rock Park, New Haven – Steve Broker

From late April through mid-May, East Rock Park experiences a steady progression of newly-arriving neotropical migrant birds. Many birders visit this ultra-hotspot daily in spring to enjoy the latest flashy birds making appearances. We start the morning at Trowbridge Drive to ensure parking spaces, and to get our walking feet operating. After we enjoy the warblers, vireos, flycatchers, and thrushes here, we relocate by car to the Eli Whitney Museum and take a leisurely stroll along the Mill River trails. Our focus is on birding by ear, while also discussing bird behavior and habitat use. Meet at the Farnam Drive parking lot in Hamden. Entry to this parking is off Davis Street, Hamden.
